The MBA Venture Fellowship Program matches MBA students from the UConn of Business with UConn startup companies for a hands on experience in commercialization, marketing, and research. Students with a focus on business development, marketing, finance and partnership are encouraged to apply.
1. How to Apply
Students are required to submit a resume and statement of interest in the program (300 words max.) to Ryan Baldassario. All students selected for interviews will be coordinating directly with staff at UConn TIP/Venture Development and participating companies.
2. Credit and Compensation
Students do not receive financial compensation for this program but are able to earn elective credits by registering for the required linked course - BADM 5894-002 (Special Topics: MBA Venture Fellows Program).
MBA Venture Fellows are expected to provide approximately 10 hours per week of support to their matched company. This commitment may be flexible throughout the term, in accordance with schedules set with matched company. Fellows will also be given the opportunity to interact with other fellows in supplementary professional development and educational workshops.
4. Student and Startup Company Matching Process
Students are matched with potential companies based on their professional and educational experiences. UConn TIP/Venture Development facilitate this matching. Once matched, students interview with potential companies to determine fit and whether the placement would be beneficial to the company and student. If this initial interview does not yield a match, students will be offered another opportunity to interview with other companies, pending availability.
