PiezoBioMembrane Partners in Breakthrough Collaboration

PiezoBioMembrane, Inc., a cutting-edge UConn Technology Incubation Program (TIP) startup, has taken a major step forward in regenerative medicine through a newly announced research and development partnership with PetVivo Holdings, Inc., a biomedical device company focused on animal health.

Under a Master Services Agreement, PiezoBio and PetVivo will collaborate to develop next-generation implantable biomaterials that combine PiezoBio’s biodegradable piezoelectric nanofibers with PetVivo’s ECM-based biocompatible materials. The result: a functional, biologically activated piezo-biomaterial designed to stimulate tissue and bone regeneration—without the need for wires or batteries.

“This collaboration brings together two highly complementary technologies,” said Linh Le, CEO of PiezoBioMembrane, Inc. “By combining our expertise in piezoelectric materials with PetVivo’s natural ECM-based platforms, we aim to unlock new therapeutic solutions in regenerative medicine.”

PiezoBio’s platform offers a wireless, battery-free means of generating therapeutic electrical stimulation, a breakthrough that could accelerate healing and remodeling in both animal and human applications. PetVivo’s biomaterials, already used in veterinary products like SPRYNG® with OsteoCushion® Technology, mimic natural tissue and are designed for seamless integration into the body.

“PetVivo has been pioneering the next generation of biomaterials using all-natural components,” said Mike Eldred, Board Member of PetVivo Holdings, Inc. “This collaboration with PiezoBio will enable us to co-develop transformative therapeutic products for both veterinary and potentially human use.”

As a UConn TIP company, PiezoBio exemplifies the power of academic innovation translated into real-world impact through strategic industry partnerships. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for the startup and a promising development for the broader fields of regenerative medicine and biomedical device innovation.

Congratulations to the PiezoBio team on this exciting milestone!
